Corsair Vengeance LP 1600MHz 8GB Memory Kit Review

OverclockingWhenever we start to overclock memory, we first make sure that the memory is able to run at its stock settings and to rule out any errors with the memory and to make sure they are not part of a “bad batch”.

Once we have performed our normal checks we were able to enter the BIOS and increase the memory clock speed.

We were able to increase the memory from its stock speed of 1600MHz to 1694MHz. We made sure that the memory was ran as intended using the stock voltage and timings as we generally see a performance decrease by loosening the timings to gain extra speed. It is worth noting that we were able to boot into Windows at over 1700MHz, but stability was an issue.

The increased speed from the overclock saw a slight increase of performance across the scale, showing that a little bit of an extra boost can be gained from the overclock, effectively giving extra performance for free.

MaxxMEM2 saw very similar results with a good increase across the board whilst keeping timings at stock and without adjusting the voltage.
