Corsair Virtuoso RGB Wireless SE Headset Review

How Much Does it Cost?
The Corsair Virtuoso RGB Wireless headset is available now from most major retailers. However, it is available in two versions. The VIRTUOSO RGB Wireless, and the VIRTUOSO RGB Wireless SE, which is the model we reviewed today. The “standard” model is available for £149.99 in the UK and $179.99 in the US. However, their full-fat Wireless SE is £169.99 in the UK and $219.99 in the US.
They’re cheaper than the SteelSeries Arctis Pro and the Arctis 9X, the Razer Nari Ultimate, the Astro A50, Sennheiser GSP-600, Asus RoG Delta. The list just goes on. Even when the price is close, the features of the Virtuoso are often better. How the hell has Corsair done that, for this level of build quality, features and performance? I have no idea.
Overview
Corsair has taken a sledgehammer to the headset market as far as I’m concerned. I’m not saying they’re the first to make an amazing headset, because they’re not. However, they’ve not bothered to release an incremental upgrade to their current range. Rather, they’ve completely reinvented it and taken it to a whole new level.
Build Quality
The attention to detail here is phenomenal. Beautifully machined aluminium construction that’s detailed down to the smallest button and the USB dongles. How about the precision-tuned Hi-Res drivers, handpicked for consistency (or so Corsair say). Then we have their flag-ship wireless Slipstream technology, the ultra-high-quality boom microphone, the fantastic battery life, their latest RGB tech, the superb memory foam padding. There’s nothing on this headset that isn’t superb. Overall, it’s one of the best made, best looking and arguably best-performing headsets on the market today.
Added Value
There are quite a few flagship headsets out there right now. However, almost all of them have a “gamer” vibe to them. Corsair has (for once) avoided that a bit, and made a headset that works just as nicely as headphones when you’re out and about. Furthermore, I could wear this is a nice office, and not look a total idiot (remember to turn the RGB off ). I could wear it for eSports, and it would work there. It’s a headset for everyone. If you love audio, that’s where it shines the most. However, if you’re just a fashion-conscious PC gamer, you’re hardly left short here. It’ll work on consoles (3.5mm jack), mobile, PC, etc. That’s a big win for me.
Should I Buy Them?
The Corsair Virtuoso RGB Wireless SE really sets a new standard for gaming headsets. Not only are they stylish, but the extensive features and exceptional performance make the retail price seem very reasonable indeed; this one is going to be hard to beat.
