How Much Does it Cost?

The Corsair VOID Elite Surround Gaming Headset is available now for a very reasonable £64.99 in the UK and just $79.99 in the US. That makes it perfectly competitive when it comes down to features, build quality and performance. However, Corsair does make a more expensive wireless model too, if you need rid of the wires.

Overview

Corsair already has a new flagship gaming headset with the Virtuoso RGB Wireless. That was one of the best headsets we’ve ever tested by a long way. Of course, it’s not exactly cheap. The Void, however, is actually pretty affordable, and while it can’t hold a candle to the top-dog Virtuoso, it’ll stand pretty tall against any sub £100 headset, and even a few from £100+ headsets actually.

Build Quality

The design on this headset has been around for a few years now, which is a good thing. Clearly it wasn’t broken and clearly Corsair saw they didn’t need to fix it. It was a great design when we first saw it, and it’s standing the test of time quite well. The metal ear cup mounts, the soft memory foam padding, and the very good quality drivers all add up to a nicely made product.

The microphone is hard-wired, as is the 3.5mm cable, which is a shame. However, at this price, I’m not going to feel beaten up by it. It’s nothing that would be a deal-breaker here.

Performance

The new extended frequency drivers are pretty fantastic. Not OMG I must replace my current VOID headset to get them fantastic, but certainly a cut above most headsets of this price range. Note that they’re 20-30,000Hz, which falls short of the 40,000Hz needed for Hi-Res certification, but it’s still beyond the typical 20,000Hz limit of human hearing. Combined with the good microphone, the sweet USB amplifier and multi-format support, it performs great. It’s a really well-rounded headset that I’m sure you’re going to love.
