Corsair Void Surround Hybrid Gaming Headset Review

A Closer Look

The headset comes hard-wired with a good length and rubber coated 3.5mm cable. This means it can be directly connected to a PlayStation 4 controller, mobile device and well, anything that has a 3.5mm headphone jack. There’s a 4-pole connector too, so devices supporting a combination jack will also benefit from use of the microphone, such as consoles, mobiles, etc.

The black and red theme certainly stands out, and goes a little against the grain for Corsairs current crop of black and yellow, but I must admit that I do like this colour, although I have a black and red keyboard, mouse and mouse mat, so it looks good with my other hardware, your results will obviously vary.

The left ear cup has a hard-wired microphone, but don’t worry, if you don’t want to use it, it can be easily folded up out-of-the-way so it doesn’t bother you.

Pulling the microphone down to use it and adjusting it for the optimal speaking height is easily done, but one major difference here is that bend in the boom, that’s a permanent feature and allows the microphone to be in a more optimal speaking position; it looks a little odd, but if it improves performance, I’m all for it.

Down the side of the ear cup, you’ll find a master volume control wheel, as well as a microphone mute switch on the back of the ear cup. They’re pretty simple in terms of controls, but it’s everything you’ll need at your fingertips while gaming and they’re easy to locate without having to remove the headset and look for them.

The headband is nice and durable and features a large Corsair logo on the top, not that you can miss this addition of course.

The lining on the headband is nice and soft, featuring thick memory foam and a soft microfiber coating that’s going to prove very comfortable during those late into the night gaming sessions.

The fitting between the drivers and the headband is a cast metal bar which allows some pivot and rotation to allow for a comfortable fit.

It then joins to an extender that allows you to easily adjust the size of the headset, making it suitable for a wide range of users.

Both ear cups can be folded in 90-degree, allowing you to easily rest the headset around your neck between games.

And again, we’ve got even more of that premium grade padding on the ear cups, and it’s easily some of the most comfortable we’ve ever tested!

As a child still in my 30's (but not for long), I spend my day combining my love of music and movies with a life-long passion for gaming, from arcade classics and retro consoles to the latest high-end PC and console games. So it's no wonder I write about tech and test the latest hardware while I enjoy my hobbies!
