Cortana Can’t Be Disabled After Anniversary Update

Cortana is Microsoft’s answer to Siri, the very voice-based assistant that has helped iPhone users around the world. With its integration into Windows 10, many users have become cautious about its use of search data and how much it may be “learning” about its users. Now users may want to be a little more careful courtesy of Windows 10’s Anniversary update.
With Windows 10 coming up to its first anniversary, the Anniversary update looks to make changes across the board to Microsoft’s latest and possibly last operating system. Some of these changes will affect Cortana and the biggest one will be that you can’t even turn her off anymore.
While Cortana will still have options to disable her information collection abilities you’ll still have her running in the background courtesy of her integration with the search bar. While you can stop Cortana from listening to your voice there are many things which users are more than a little cautious about.
With Microsoft making more and more moves that many would see as “aggressive”, users are often questioning if the latest operation system is worth some of the troubles it causes, instead looking towards the older operating systems and alternatives such as Linux.
