Cougar Aqua 240 AIO Cooler Review

How Much Does it Cost?

At the time of writing, the Cougar Aqua 240 can be picked up for the amazingly low price of just £52.99. A figure that sees it significantly lower than other alternatives that come with (arguably worse) ARGB lighting effects and, for those designs that offer no RGB lighting, the Cougar Aqua 240 is still around £10 less expensive!

Given the level of performance and functionality this provides (particularly with that remote control), I’m honestly amazed that Cougar has been able to somehow bring a product as good as this to the market at what can only be described as a bargain of the century price tag.

Overview

I think it would be fair to say that the PC community, as a whole, has mixed feelings when it comes to RGB lighting. Some love it, others hate it. When it’s applied to coolers, however, I think it’s a really solid compromise when the ARGB effects are available, but solely to the pump head.

Putting that aspect to one side, however, it is truly remarkable not only how well this cooler has been designed, but also how it absolutely masters its task of keeping CPU temperatures nice and low. Yes, it can get a little vocal while doing so, but if you were to give me the option between acoustics and CPU temperatures, I’d pick the latter (within reason) every single time! – You can, after all, always tweak the fan noise settings in the BIOS to find the perfect balance for you!

Should I Buy One?

If you are in the market for a new AIO cooling solution for your PC, it’s no secret that you’re pretty spoiled for choice in a market that probably offers more options than consumers really need. What Cougar has managed to achieve with the AQUA 240, however, is truly remarkable!

Not only is it fantastic in terms of its aesthetics and temperature control, but this is available to buy, right now, at a price massively lower than a lot of its so-called competition. Regardless of the price, the Cougar AQUA 240 is, without a doubt, one of the best coolers I’ve encountered so far this year. With that price tag though, this should be an absolute no-brainer for those looking to significantly upgrade their cooling experience on an exceptionally wallet-friendly budget!

Pros

  • Simply astonishing value for money
  • Amazing CPU temperature control
  • 100% viable for moderate overclocks
  • Nice, bright, and vivid ARGB effects to the pump head – A solid compromise for both RGB lovers and haters
  • Better than a lot of its competition and available (in a lot of comparative instances) at half the price!

Cons

  • None

Neutral

  • The lack of ARGB functionality to the fans may disappoint some, but we suspect not many!
  • A little on the noisy side when overclocked
