In this test we subject the unit to various loads and measure how it effects the rail stability. In theory, a power supplies output waveform should be flat, but this is never the case. What you see is a very zoomed in view that tells us how stable the rails are by looking at how much ‘ripple’ there is. For more information, please take a look at our PSU Testing Methodology article where you can also see an example of what a poor quality unit looks like on our oscilloscope.

Just… wow! The ripple, or lack thereof, is absolutely fantastic! Up to 80% load the ripple barely exceeds 10mV with a distinct lack of noise. When we go to 100%, the ripple takes a leap up to ~22mV. This is the best PSU I have reviewed to date apart from Antec’s HCP-1200 which is in a league of it’s own! Most importantly, this unit beats Enermax’s PSU I reviewed recently which is interesting to say the least. So far we have seen outstanding voltage regulation and now unprecedented ripple suppression- how is Cougar not the top PSU manufacturer in Europe?
