Over Power Protection and Max Wattage
Although this specific power supply is rated to 550-watts, it’s never unusual for PSUs to be able to go moderately above this amount without too much drama. If it does, however, get pushed too far, it’s equally important to know that the over-power protection works. Namely, to save the power supply from frying itself or, worse, some of your components if you get a bit carried away with it.
Well, the good news is that the OPP worked perfectly. Perhaps surprisingly though, the Cougar GX-F Aurum was able to draw over 200-watts above the rated amount before it kicked in.
All in all, this is excellent!
