Cougar GX-F Aurum 550w Power Supply Review

How Much Does it Cost?
Retailing for a price in the region of £60-£65, this is certainly very competitive for a gold-rated efficiency power supply. Admittedly, if you’re going for gold then the 650 or 750 variants might be more suitable for your system.
Throwing the 7-year warranty into the mix, however, this is exceptionally good value for a power supply as good as this!
Performance
While our testing did throw up a few unusual results (largely in the ripple testing), overall, it’s hard to find anything to fault with the Cougar GF-X Aurum’s performance.
It carried all of the hallmarks of a well-designed power supply doing exactly what it’s supposed to do. With no drama, fuss or problems!
Practicality & Functionality
With the only exception being the lengths of the modular cables (which I think would’ve ideally been just a tiny bit longer) in terms of a functional and practical power supply, the Cougar GF-X Aurum ticks all of the right boxes.
Admittedly, the remit for this in power supplies is often the requirement to do all they promise. Trust me though, Cougar has gone well above and beyond with this one!
Should I Buy One?
The Cougar GX-F Aurum is an exceptional power supply. Not only does it look every bit as excellent as it performs, but it comes with a price tag that is surprisingly low based on the gold-rated efficiency rating and it’s stonkingly huge 7-year warranty.
With variants available between 555-750, if you’re in the market for a new power supply, then there’s absolutely no reason why this shouldn’t get your consideration!
