COUGAR have launched a cutting-edge aluminium keyboard which has already managed to win the 2014 iF International Design Award. COUGAR has invested two years of intense work in designing what has to be one of the best gaming keyboards on the market; the 700K.
The new 700K is inspired by military stealth technology and the design is created from elements of geometric facet. The Mechanical key modules are mounted on an exposed and bended aluminium structure that has a premium brushed surface treatment. This method is said to provide the user with more efficient typing and a sturdy and strong structural foundation as well. The ends are wrapped in a plastic frame to create a protected and more well rounded design.
The 700K is utilizing the well known and loved Cherry MX Mechanical keys, that are rated up to 50 million keystrokes. All four key-options will be available, to meet the preference of everyone; black, red, blue and brown keys. With a 1000 Hz polling rate and a response time of 1 ms, every action should happen instantly. Further more, this keyboard supports NKEY roll-over in direct USB mode with unlimited simultaneous key presses, without the need for a PS2 to USB adapter. The repeat rate can be changed on the fly between 1x, 2x, 4x and 8x.
The COUGAR 700K has 6 programmable keys that support on-the-fly macro recording. 5 are located to the far left and the sixth is part of the split spacebar. This split spacebar allows the 6th hotkey to be quickly accessible within reach of your thumb. There are three modes to switch between, making a total of 18 macros or keystrokes easyily accessible over the 6 hot-keys.
Each key can be individual backlit in a 5-step brightness setup, or turned completely off. This allows you to highlight the keys you need for your current game and makes it easy to forget about the other 100 keys that you don’t need.
The entire palm rest can be removed for those who prefer to game without or have a retracted and restricted space for the keyboard. An extra FPS palm rest can be magnetically attached to the rest and will allow for greater ergonomic support of the WASD control keys. The large non-slip rubber feet at the bottom of the keyboard should keep it in place at all times.
Inside, the 700K has a 32-bit ARM Cortex-M0 chip and on-board memory to store up to 3 full gaming profiles. The USB pass through and audio jacks further aid the gamer to attach additional peripherals. The keyboard’s cable is braided for extra sturdiness and has golden-plated connectors to ensure the best possible contact to the computer. The entire keyboard weighs 1.2 Kg.

It is also the newest member of the Cougar family to be UIX System compatible; one software for all COUGAR devices. Additionally, Cougar Fusion will allow your devices to interconnect, so mode 3 on keyboard equals mode 3 on mouse for example. Of course it also allows for a 2-way instant mode switch on both mouse and keyboard.
The COUGAR 700K Mechanical Keyboard should be available within the next couple of days at a price of £105.00.
