Cougar has again opted to not go for the hybrid road in their LX series, but that as far as I’m concerned has never been a problem. I have always viewed hybrid/passive settings as more of a perk rather than a necessity. Despite this though, it seems clear that the improved fan design has had the intended results.
Running at an almost consistent level we found that once the power supply hit 60% load, the fan operated at circa 600rpm and stayed there. Given that the base reading was around 580, this doesn’t show a massive variance in the operational speed, but as long as it’s quiet and doing its job (which it managed in both regards) nobody is going to complain about this.
