How Much Does it Cost?

The Cougar MX440 MESH RGB PC Case is available now, and amazingly, it cost just £62.99 on Amazon here in the UK. Seriously, that’s incredible value for money for a case of this quality and with this level of features. While Cougar has made some compromises to keep the cost down, they’re really all quite minor, and this still looks and feels like a premium quality product despite the bargain price.

Overview

The Cougar MX440 Mesh RGB may be affordable, but it’s hardly lacking in feature for a case in this price range. There are little spots where I can see they’ve saved a bit of money. Things like the snap-off expansion slot cover on the rear of the case. There’s heavy use of plastic on the front panel (albeit, it’s rather well made too), there’s no USB Type C port on the front panel, all the RGB fans run from three daisy-chained MOLEX headers, and there’s no motherboard RGB sync. Honestly, at this price range, I can comfortably live with all of those minor quirks, I really can!

Build Quality

This is actually the most surprising aspect of this case, it’s really well made. You can feel it when you pick it up, as it’s quite a bit heavier than many rival products of a similar size, and certainly a lot heavier than most affordable models. The side panel window has a very secure mounting system too, where it hooks into the side of the case, and screws at the back; certainly a more durable mount than I’m used to seeing. Overall, the case feels robust, and nothing rattles or wobbles around, so top marks there.

Performance

Those front panel fans are awesome, providing a powerful wall of air throughout the case. While it is lacking a rear fan, it’s hardly needed, given that you get so much passive ventilation at the back and on the top of the case. Of course, if you add in CPU AIO or some fans in the top, that’ll help push heat away even faster. Beyond that though, the case can handle a decent setup of fans or radiators to suit your needs, as well some of the larger GPUs on the market today, so it’s certainly going to appeal to those building a gaming rig.

Should I Buy One?

A few minor quirks aside, this is a really great case. Durable build quality, kick-ass gamer-friendly looks, some RGB lighting from those three built-in fans, tempered glass and all the other things we’ve come to expect from a modern PC case. Of course, at this price range, you’re going to have a hard time finding more for less, as it’s an absolute bargain.
