Cougar MX660 Mesh RGB E-ATX Case Review

Complete System

Installing my test hardware couldn’t have been much easier here, as there’s a hilarious amount of space. Even though the case supports E-ATX, the E-ATX motherboard I used still looks fairly small, and a wider motherboard would do just fine. Perhaps even the workstation boards will fit in this, such as the LGA 3647 boards.

The front panel RGB looks fantastic too, lighting up the frame of the fans, but not the blades themselves, which remain blacked out.

It’s cool, as it gives enough lighting and colour to the case to make it look interesting, but not so much that it floods the room with light as some RGB fans tend to do.

Using the button on the front of the case, you can cycle through the various colours and effects to suit your taste. There’s certainly a lot to choose from. However, it can also be paired with your motherboard or similar RGB controller to sync it all.

Cable routing is great, with so many grommets and holes dotted around the case that every cable only has a short run to where it needs to be.

There’s room for a decent 120mm air cooler. Some of the larger Noctua models may not fit, though. This is a trade-off, as you do get a lot of cable routing space behind the motherboard. Plus, there’s room for a lot of extra fans or radiators should you want to expand even further.

Of course, as you can see, I’ve used the GPU vertical mount. However, the case doesn’t come with a riser cable, and you will have to order your own if you want to do this. Also, it meant removing the SSD brackets to make way for that cable, so you have to pick between the two features.

Overall, though, it’s an immaculate looking build, and those front fans provide a full-height wall of airflow throughout the case.

Throw the tempered glass back on the side, and all the black hardware and cables blend into each other, with the RGB showing off the highlights of your build.

Great airflow combined with great style, you really can’t ask for much more than that.
