Cougar is well known for their chassis and peripherals, but they’re also working hard to build their PSU business, and if their range at Computex is anything to go by, they’re doing a damn fine job of it. First up, we have the 80 Plus Bronze equipped CMD 500 (above), which comes with a range of smart features using their UIX software, support for powering two fans directly from the PSU, modular cables, voltage and fan speed tuning and much more. Then we have the 600 (below) which offers up the same features, but with a little more power output.
The LX500 and LX600 deliver fully modular cables, 80 Plus Bronze rating, “ultra-stable” voltages using DC-DC technology, and a hybrid fan mode that means silent operation below 40c.
The GX-S 550 and 650 both over up Gold efficiency, but with a hard-wired design, which still offering the DC-DC and fanless features of the LX series.
The VTX series are set for 80 Plus Bronze efficiency, hard-wired design and while they look a bit bland, expect their pricing to be extremely competitive.
The same goes for the STX series, which are similar to the VTX, but with lower power rating for systems that don’t need more than 450/550W
