Cougar VTE 500w Power Supply Review

Efficiency
As this is a bronze-rated plus PSU, it does have to meet certain requirements in terms of how efficiently it delivers power. In other words, the amount of power going in compared to the amount of power it actually produces.
Getting us off on a very positive note, the Cougar VTE easily meets these requirements with roughly an 83% efficiency rating at 20% load while getting close to 85% at maximum output.
PFC (Power Factor Correction)
The PFC rating is mostly exactly what you would want to see. Admittedly, the numbers do take a little dip towards the mid-point which is a little unusual as these, generally speaking, start low and peak at around 80%.
It is, however, only a matter of curiosity and, trust me, everything looks fine here.
Voltage Regulation
In terms of voltage regulation, while deviance is important, I consider the more critical factor to be consistency and, as you can see in the results below, while there is some deviance, it’s certainly not large with the numbers provided at the differing outputs being very solid!
