Gears of War is a no-nonsense co-op shooter which adopts an occult theme. The game’s chaotic action-packed gunplay and throwaway story is a superb combination and one of Microsoft’s most successful exclusives. While I use the term exclusive, the original Gears of War eventually came to PC and utilizes the horrific Games for Windows Live DRM. As a result, Gears of War is one of the most likely culprits to make its way to PC. The PC also received Halo 1 and Halo 2 but that was a long time ago. I honestly don’t think Microsoft has any interest in putting Halo or Forza on PC, unless console sales hit a dramatic low point.
Thankfully, the Gears of War remaster is scheduled to arrive on PC fairly soon, but there’s a lack of detail regarding the actual release date. Interestingly, during my hunt for some Black Friday bargains, I noticed a listing on UK retailer, GAME entitled, Gears 4. As you can see, the listing says the game is available for the Xbox One and PC. This could be a legitimate mistake, although it might be the first indication that the game will release on both systems and offer cross-platform play.
In most cases, when a retailer has a placeholder for an upcoming game, it’s usually accurate. I’d love this particular case to be true, and maybe the original remaster will come with a Gears of War 4 demo.
