Counter Strike 2 Limited Test Has Been Revealed

Counter Strike 2 has been Rumoured a lot this month and as it turns out the rumour of the beta releasing this month has turned out to be true as the official limited test beta is available!

Counter-Strike 2 Limited Test Available

The Limited Test Beta for Counter-Strike Source 2 has been announced by Valve with a webpage detailing all the new additions we will expect to see in the game.

Counter-Strike 2 is the largest technical leap forward in Counter-Strike’s history, ensuring new features and updates for years to come.

All of the game’s new features will be revealed when it officially launches this summer, but the road to Counter-Strike 2 begins today as a Limited Test for select CS:GO players. During this testing period, we’ll be evaluating a subset of features to shake out any issues before the worldwide release.

Counter-Strike 2 arrives this summer as a free upgrade to CS:GO. So build your loadout, hone your skills, and prepare yourself for what’s next!

With this being a Limited Test not just anyone can participate and Valve has stated the following on Twitter as to who is selected.

Dynamic Smoke Grenades

CSGO2 will feature much more impressive volumetric smoke physics with smoke grenades interacting with the environment and even having HE grenades able to disturb the smoke. The smoke also naturally fills spaces able to seep out of opened doorways and broken windows and expand through long corridors. More impressively the smoke reacts to lighting for more realistic lighting effects.

Graphics Overhaul

The graphics and maps have been rebuilt from the ground up taking advantage of all that Source 2 has to offer. With higher-quality textures with much more realistic lighting and reflections. On the webpage, Valve has provided several comparisons across 3 popular maps; Dust 2, Nuke and Overpass.

The UI and Visual Effects and Audio Have Been Reimagined

With source 2 the visual effects such as bullet impacts and blood splatters have been overhauled as well as explosion and fire effects bringing them up to par with modern standards. On top of all these visual effects, the UI has been updated to look much more modern.

Utilising Source 2 has allowed for Valve to rework the sounds to be more balanced distinct and reflective of the physical environment, with counter strike being a competitive game audio plays a huge role in its gameplay.

This is only a selection of new features for the Source 2 Update of CS:GO and we will learn more about all of the new features in time for its release in Summer. You can see all the updated features yourself on the webpage provided by the Counter Strike team.
