We love our PC games here at eTeknix, and we love it even more when fan made projects like this crop up and inspire us at how diverse and capable the PC gaming community can be. TekVoL has recreated the iconic dust2 map from Counter-Strike in CryEngine, and while it’s not faithful in terms of the objects used in CS, it has been created using CryEngine assets to resemble the original map, giving it a sort of modern remake feel, but otherwise it looks pretty awesome.
The use of CryEngine has allowed the modder to use advanced features such as screen space reflections, which give a nice realistic feel to the environment on the map. Then again, it’s not like we’re new to this, we all know how impressive the lighting engine can be in CryEngine and the visual impact of this recreated map is something to behold.
This may be nothing more than a little fan project, but things like this often help other modders build upon it and perhaps someone else will step in and port in other aspects. You could no doubt import this back to another CryEngine game and play it without too much trouble.
