The Counter Strike series of games is one of the most popular first person shooters on the PC platform, yet I have to constantly tell myself this as I play it because I’m not sure why. Anyway, personal opinions aside, Counter Strike fans will be delighted to know that Counter Strike Global Offensive – the successor to Counter Strike Source – is now ready for pre order. Those same fans will probably be even more delighted to know that Valve have been very kind with their pricing strategy, loyalty that’s sure to be recognised by consumers.
Counter Strike Global Offensive will be available for an RRP of £11.99. Until the 21st of August Steam is offering 10% off the new title, meaning it costs £10.79. For any of you who have never indulged in Counter Strike before, Steam are offering a 66% off the Counter Strike package – meaning for £12.91 you can pick up all the Counter Strike games including Global Offensive, pretty good value.
All players who pre-purchase on Steam gain early access to the beta on August 14th. Global Offensive features an arsenal of over 45 weapons, loads of maps, new game modes, new visuals, leaderboards and over 165 Steam Achievements.
About CS:GO
Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS: GO) will expand upon the team-based action gameplay that it pioneered when it was launched 12 years ago.
CS: GO features new maps, characters, and weapons and delivers updated versions of the classic CS content (de_dust, etc.). In addition, CS: GO will introduce new gameplay modes, matchmaking, leader boards, and more.
“Counter-Strike took the gaming industry by surprise when the unlikely MOD became the most played online PC action game in the world almost immediately after its release in August 1999,” said Doug Lombardi at Valve. “For the past 12 years, it has continued to be one of the most-played games in the world, headline competitive gaming tournaments and selling over 25 million units worldwide across the franchise. CS: GO promises to expand on CS’ award-winning gameplay and deliver it to gamers on the PC as well as the next gen consoles and the Mac.”
