As someone who recently got back into Counter-Strike, I often find myself browsing the Steam Market for skins, but I don’t think I could ever convince myself that it’s worth spending a hundred pounds on a skin let alone a million. That’s the price a recent Counter-Strike skin just sold for, breaking the record for the most expensive skin ever sold and nearly doubling the previous record holder.
The AK-47 in question that sold was a rare StatTrak Factory which is the best quality and had a special pattern on the gun which was Blue Gem pattern 661. For those who don’t know, a “Blue Gem” is a Case Hardened skin that has the maximum amount of blue on it and for some reason, this sends Counter-Strike players mad.
Although we don’t know the exact amount that the gun was sold for we only know that it was over $1 million from a post on Twitter/X from the user Jake Lucky.
As mentioned before, this skin was Factory New, the best quality you can get for a skin when opening a case. Previous Blue Gem 661 skins in Minimal Wear (one tier down from Factory New) have sold for roughly £320,000.
Although this is the most expensive game skin to have ever sold, as far as I know, it isn’t the most valuable. A Karambit Blue Gem knife is estimated to be worth over $1.5 million dollars (£1,173,375 pounds). This estimate was made when the owner turned down a $1.2 million dollar offer.
