Creative Announces ZiiSound T6

Creative Technology has announced the latest addition to its extensive Pure Wireless speaker family – the 2.1 channel Creative ZiiSoundTM T6. This new system is to take its place as the new flagship system of Creative’s wireless speaker range.

In the creation of this new system, Creative has included some of the characteristics that have made the other models in their wireless speaker range a huge success. This includes a fast and easy connection to all compatible stereo Bluetooth devices – such as laptops, iPhone, iPad, iPod, PC’s Mac’s and tablet PC’s – and high quality wireless audio transmission to the speakers.

The high quality audio has been engineered for wireless perfection based on Creative’s in-house wireless technology reference system – this is an engineering optimisation platform that brings out the best wireless audio performance in Bluetooth and apt-X technologies that there currently is for speakers.

To bring this sound to life, Creative has included the following features into their systems to guarantee performance that is “beyond best-in-class”

  • USB 5.1 audio (software decoder required)
  • High performance and low latency apt-X codec
  • Swivel satellite top drivers for surround or stereo use
  • Satellite drivers that meet the best in audiophile-grade requirements
  • Creative SLAMTM three-driver-subwoofer. This with its signature deep & tight bass that delivers Low-Frequency-Effects (LFE)

The ZiiSound T6 comes with a pair of adjustable Swivel-Speaker-Array satellites and the precision tuned 3 driver SLAM subwoofer, that will give users the option for stereo music or “theatre-like” Surround Sound streamed from wireless apt-X devices. To top this off, it transforms all compatible Bluetooth devices into a wireless remote control. Don’t worry if you device is not compatible though, as there is an included IR remote to control the audio source, volume, playback and to power on/off the system.

While it mainly works with Bluetooth devices, there are other ways to get connected. Firstly the system allows for a wired connection for non-Bluetooth devices such as MP3 players via an AUX-in port on the control pod. There is also the option to connect the system via USB to enjoy realistic “full bandwidth” simulated 5.1 channel surround sound for your 5.1 encoded media (software driver is required) with deep bass from the 3 driver sub to fill your room.

“The ZiiSound T6 now reinforces the Pure Wireless speaker family – a family of wireless speakers that offers a wireless speaker for everyone at every price point. It further enhances Creative’s standing as the only company to offer a full comprehensive range of wireless solutions: from a one-piece speaker, to 2.0 speakers, to 2.1 speakers, and now to multi-channel Surround Sound speakers”, said Ting Lai Chu, Vice-President for Advanced Multimedia Group at Creative.
“In fact, with Christmas just round the corner, we will be the only company to offer customers a full range of six wireless speaker models to choose from – something no other company is doing.”

So how much is this flagship model set to retail for? The ZiiSound T6 is set to be available in the Creative UK online store from mid December 2010 onwards and current suggested retail price is set at £349.99. Whilst this may seem a bit steep, the system comes bundled with the BT-D1 Bluetooh USB Transmitter (worth £39.99 itself) and for the promotional launch period when bought from the Creative store, it will also be bundled with the BT-D5 iPhone/iPod/iPad Bluetooth Transmitter (normally £39.99) for free!
