Creative Omni and iRoar Go Speakers – Upgrade Your Alexa?

Final Thoughts

Price

The Creative Omni speakers are £104.54 each, but of course, you only need one and a second one is optional. What’s super strange is that the black one is rocking the full MSRP, but Amazon has the white model with the same specifications for just £69.47 at the time of writing. That’s a freaking bargain, so if you can find it at that price, snap one up.

The iRoar Go is a little more expensive at £159.99, although you can get a similar spec Gen 2 model for just £99.99. However, it’s a more durable, bigger, and more powerful speaker than the Omni, so if you’re after a single speaker with room-filling sound, this is an excellent option for you.

Overview

As I said before, the Amazon Echo has a pretty decent speaker, and the Dot has a pretty lousy speaker. Despite sounding pretty good, the Echo just doesn’t compare to the sound quality of the iRoar Go, nor does it provide as wide a soundstage due to its vertical design. An iRoar Go plus an Echo Dot gives you much greater flexibility in where and how you enjoy your audio. However, it also costs more money. The simple maths of getting more for more applies here, but it’s still a worthy investment for those who take their smart home tech seriously.

Go-Omni or Om-not?

I do think the iRoar Go sounds far superior to the Omni. However, when you can get an Omni for under £70, it’s about half the price, and still offers far more connectivity options than the iRoar Go. Being able to control other services like Google Now, Siri, and even Spotify directly from the speaker and its app is a huge benefit too, especially for those who don’t yet own or want to own an Alexa device.

At Home or On The Go

Both of the Creative speakers offer built-in batteries, so in seconds you can quickly pick one up, move it anywhere in the house, and rock out with ease. However, they work out of the home too. You don’t go camping with your Alexa device, but with the mobile app, Bluetooth, and a portable speaker, you can take it anywhere in the world. A trip to the beach, camping, stuck in a hotel room, it doesn’t matter, it’ll work well.

Which One Should I Buy?

There are a lot of Bluetooth speakers on the market, many of them will work well and do it for you. However, I chose Creative due to their decades of experience in the audio market, something a lot of these new Bluetooth speaker brands just do not have. Their sound quality is top-notch, and their prices are competitive for what you get. For those wanting to build a multi-room music setup with ease, the Omni has a lot to offer. However, for straight up jaw-dropping sound quality and ease of use, the iRoar Go wipes the floor with anything else in this price range, especially the speakers built into the Alexa devices.
