Final Thoughts

Price

The Creative Sound Blaster Roar Pro is available from Creative for £169.99, which is obviously not cheap, but after hearing this unit running we’re confident that it’s worth every penny. A few big retailers do stock them, and we have seen them a little closer to £150, so it couldn’t hurt to shop around for the best deal.

Overview

We’re quite literally and figuratively blown away by the Roar Pro. It may be small, but it packs a sound bigger than many fully fledged Hi-Fi systems, and I’ve used docks twice the size, even twice the price, that still come up short in comparison. The Roar Pro lives up to the “pro” moniker, by packing in a huge range of features that are sure to excite any user at home, in the office, or out at the beach for the day.

Connectivity is a strong point here, with all major functions such as USB, NFC, Bluetooth, 3.5mm, and Micro-SD, present and accounted for. This means that hooking up your mobile device, MP3 player, laptop, desktop, or anything else for that matter, shouldn’t pose an issue. However, the Roar Pro isn’t out of party tricks yet, as if you’ve got enough cash in the bank, you can order two of these monsters and pair them up with each other for double the performance as they synchronise their workloads for a more natural stereo speaker setup.

Build quality is flawless throughout on this unit, and with dual high-quality amplifiers, some impressive sounding full-range speakers and a sub, as well as a great looking design, it’s easily my favourite portable speaker to date. The added bonus of it being mains powered, or running it from that massive 6000mAh built-in battery is certainly welcome too, as it’s just as comfortable at home as it is out and about. Sure it’s not light enough or small enough to be that convenient, but when you need that big sound system performance, it’ll more than get the job done.

Pros

  • Flawless build quality
  • Incredible acoustic performance
  • Two Roar Pro can be paired for extra performance
  • Great connectivity
  • Mains or battery-powered operation
  • Can be used as a PA (with separate microphone)
  • Stylish and compact design

Cons

  • None

“Creative has once again proven they’re the masters of their craft. It may look quite small, but the Roar Pro has all the power and performance you’ll need to fill the room with sound, making it great for work in the office, conference calls, public speaking (PA mode), parties and much more. Highly recommended!”
