Final Thoughts

Price

The Creative Sound Blaster Rage V2.0 headset is available from Creative for £79.99, but a little Google-Fu will net you one for a little closer to £70. This is a great price for a headset of this specification, putting it alongside the Logitech G930 and the Corsair H2100 headsets, although out of the three, I would choose the new Creative headset in a heartbeat, even though they’re all of a similar specification.

Overview

This is one of the best wireless headsets I’ve tested, which is really saying something as I’ve played around with sets that cost many times more than this! For less than £80 you certainly get a lot of features from the Rage headset and it’s enough to put it a little above the competition in its respective price range.

The build quality is exceptional and while I don’t like the design, style is a very subjective matter anyway. The headset is very durable, thanks to it’s hard wearing padding, a thick metal headband support and tough plastics; all of which are finished to a premium standard.

The wireless technology is flawless and works with no noticeable latency or distortion, no cracking, nothing, it just works. The only time I had a break in the sound was when I got 30ft+ away from the tiny dongle and even then it was only while walking around beyond that distance, as once I stopped moving, the sound cleared up beautifully; it’s more than enough to walk around the house without any issues.

The surround processing is very impressive, although I wouldn’t expect anything less from a brand such as Creative, given their long history in the desktop audio market. Sound quality is fantastic and easily on par with headsets that cost twice as much, it’s especially impressive given that this is a wireless headset.

Pros

  • Exceptional sound quality
  • Great wireless performance
  • Powerful drivers
  • Impressive sound processing features
  • PC/PS4 support
  • Long battery life
  • Premium build quality
  • Customisable LED lighting colours

Cons

  • None

Neutral

  • Design is a little uninspiring, but if that’s what it takes to get great sound quality, I don’t really care
  • Fit can be a little uncomfortable for a few hours, at least until the headset has been worn in

“If you want a great headset, then you’ll find the Rage V.2 have a lot to offer for music, movies and gaming alike. This headset is on par or better than virtually everything in its price range, with the added bonus of great sound processing, wireless technology and multi-format support, making this headset excellent value for money.”
