Creative Sound BlasterX Siege M04 Gaming Mouse Review

Introduction

Today is a special day for us here at eTeknix as we put the latest Creative hardware to the test! Of course, you may be thinking “but Creative don’t make peripherals?” and that has been true for a very long time, given they’ve always focused on audio hardware and have great success in that market. Now with their continued support of eSports teams, especially with their DAC and Headset products, Creative is looking to put a keyboard and mouse in gamers hands, as well as a headset on their head.

“Crafted from the ground up utilizing years of research and surveying the habits of pro and everyday gamers worldwide, the
Sound BlasterX Siege is a combination and improvement of some of the best ideas found across various types of gaming mice. From the aesthetics and ergonomics, down to the intricate technical details…” said Creative. “We’ve engineered a world-class gaming mouse to rival all others” they added.

The Seige M04 comes equipped with 7 fully programmable buttons, on-board memory, DPI switching, right hand ergonomics, 16.8 million colour lighting effects, as well as a very nice PWM3360 IR LED sensor, which can delivery 12,000 native DPI, promising no acceleration or prediction for high-end accuracy.

“Inside the eye of the heart lies a PixArt PMW3360 IR LED gaming grade sensor and a 32-bit high speed microcontroller capable of a polling rate of 1000 Hz, 12,000 native DPI and a low 2mm lift-off distance with zero built-in acceleration and cursor prediction.”

Packaging & Accessories

The box has a nice image of the mouse on the front, showing off the funky RGB lighting effects that wrap around the edges of the mouse.

Around the back, a quick rundown of the main features, such as the programmable switches and the sensor.

The mouse comes hard-wired with a thick braided cable that gives it added durability and a premium quality look and feel. There’s a little bit of documentation in the box, but that’s about it, not that you need anything else!

As a child still in my 30's (but not for long), I spend my day combining my love of music and movies with a life-long passion for gaming, from arcade classics and retro consoles to the latest high-end PC and console games. So it's no wonder I write about tech and test the latest hardware while I enjoy my hobbies!
