Creative SoundBlaserX P5 Multi-Format Headset Review

Introduction

Creative are back on eTeknix once again, following on from our review of their stunning Creative SoundBlasterX H5 headset, we’re now eager to see what their much smaller, but still premium-grade in-ear gaming headset solution, the SoundBlasterX P5, can really do!

In ear headphones/headsets have a lot of unique advantages over bigger over-the-ear headsets, as they’re much smaller, lighter and far easier to store and transport. They’re easy to take with you, put in your pocket, use as headphones on a mobile device, and so much more and while that may not be something everyone needs from their headset, there is certainly a market for it. Equipped with support for multiple devices and powered by Creatives own 7mm FullSpecrum drivers, we’re expecting great things overall.

CLEARER, LOUDER, HARDER, BETTER.

“Get the best gaming audio anywhere. As a smaller and lighter headset that delivers detailed audio with far superior noise isolation, Sound BlasterX P5 is the perfect headphone for gamers who want to enjoy gaming not only at their desk, but also on the go. Built with premium materials, two professionally-tuned, high sensitivity 7mm FullSpectrum drivers deliver true soundstage with rapid response, rich cues and responsive bass; giving gamers a tactical advantage through the ability to perceive details, depth and location with pinpoint accuracy in real time.” – Creative

A small headset means small packaging, so you’ll find the P5 come in a small clear plastic box with a cool magnifying panel on the front, allowing you to take a really close look at the build quality and design. As you can see, it says it supports PC, mac, Android, iOS, PS4 and Xbox One, but since it’s just a 4-pole 3.mm cables, it’ll support virtually any audio device.

Around the back, an image detailing the on-cable controller and microphone.

In the box, you’ll find everything you need to get setup, including all the usual documentation, a Y-split cable for using the microphone/headphones on PC, spare ear buds and a protective carry pouch.

So it's no wonder I write about tech and test the latest hardware while I enjoy my hobbies!
