The Creative SXFI Gamer was sold out on Amazon at the time of writing, doh! But you can check for stock in the UK here and the US here. However, as I’ve seen in the past, it’s actually cheaper to buy directly from Creative, and you can grab it here for just £114.99. That’s a lot of money, but at this price range, I personally think it’s a bargain for the quality and performance you get.
Creative, you’ve done it again, this is an amazing headset. However, it’s not perfect, but hey, few things really are. I think the LED in the microphone isn’t needed, but it’s not really a bothersome feature either. Just turn the boom a little and it’s less noticeable. It can be a pain to configure SXFI too as you need your phone and the desktop app to get it done, but again, it’s a do it once and forget about it thing. Albeit, that’s for YOU, if someone else wants to use it, you’ll need to make them a fully custom profile as your SXFI profile is tuned (VERY SPECIFICALLY) for you. I think the “gamer” look is nice too, but honestly, I wish it looks just like the SXFI Theater and just said SXFI Gamer, it looks more grown-up and I think Creative appeals to a more mature audience in general. I’m 36 next week, I don’t need RGB on my headset, ha! Anyway, grumbles over.
If I didn’t already own the Creative Theater headset, I would buy this Gamer one in a heartbeat. It’s the biggest, most badass sound I think you can buy for around £100. However, if you’re feeling flush and you’ve got the cash, the Theater is a big step up and fully wireless.
The build quality is fantastic too, it’s durable in all the right places, feels really well put together and it looks great too. The headband slider feels robust and locks tight when adjusted. The ear cups feel chunky and durable and robust, but sit comfortably on your head and are actually very forgiving.
The drivers are powerful too, if you want skull shaking bass that you can feel in your toes, crank the lower end of the EQ, they can take it. Honestly, you will be in awe of the EQ range on this headset. Big bass without costing the mids and high end.
It’s my favourite gaming headset on the market right now. It’s a bit pricy and a bit awkward at times too. However, once it’s set up, once you’re wearing it and you crank that EQ and throw on Battle Mode, you’ll struggle to use headphones without SXFI again.
