Creators of Myst Return with Obduction

Who here remembers the game developer Cyan? I’m betting it’s not a huge percentage of you, but who remembers the iconic game Myst? Again, likely not many of you, but for those who answered yes to at least one of those, we have some great news! Cyan are back with the teaser trailer for their upcoming game, Obduction. To make things even more awesome, it’s being touted as the spiritual successor to Myst!

The new teaser trailer certainly caught our attention, and with Obduction being powered by Unreal Engine, it’s already looking pretty spectacular. With the promise of players being able to choose where they want to go and how much freedom they want, the possibilities for this game are pretty huge.

“Choose to have full gamer control, or simplify and explore with a simple click of the mouse. Either way these new worlds reveal their secrets only as you explore and coax them. And no matter how you choose to explore, you fall upon some heavy choices to make with substantial consequences.”

The mixup of control schemes sound interesting, go for the old-school point and click, or run around yourself; that’s an interesting choice to have in any game!

“You’ve been abducted from your cozy existence and added into an alien landscape with a stereotypical, Kansas farmhouse with a white picket fence. But the farmhouse is just the first building in a rather bizarre little town that borders the road – curious structures that beg questions rather than provide answers. And adding to the curiosity, you stumble upon a strange, kluged kiosk that reassuredly welcomes you to “Hunrath”.” Said Cyan while discussing of the game’s story.
