First-Person Ape Action
With the Planet of the Apes franchise finding success in movies, they are now setting their sites to conquer the video game world. More importantly, they are doing so in a big way by launching a VR game right off the bat.
That means players will be able to experience first-person Ape action as they thump, shoot, climb like a real ape would in a virtual environment. Minus of course, the poop flinging. See a preview of the action for yourself in the teaser trailer below:
The game is being developed by FoxNext VR Studios in partnership with UK’s Imaginati Studios. It is a full game with its own storyline. In fact, it takes place between the events of Rise of the Planet of the Apes (2011) and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (2014). This puts it within the canon of the story, despite being a stand alone project. So the lore is faithful to the current ‘Apes’ movies.
Which Platform is It Coming Out On?
Crisis on the Planet of the Apes is launching on April 3, 2018. It will be available for PlayStation VR, Oculus Rift and HTC Vive and costs just $14.99 USD.
