HD Tach is another very simple application to use, designed for all levels of users, the simple two test mode interface, quick and long, allows users to quickly ascertain how well their disk is performing. The results windows gives a clear indication on how the drive performs along its entire capacity and below its burst rate and CPU usage.
As we’ve described before, the cache simple stores commonly used (hot) data on the SSD thus giving a marked improvement in access speed, read and consequently load times in some cases. On our first boot after installing Dataplex the sequential speed across the drive show to be at a steady average of 71.9MB/s with some peaks of upto ~225MB/s. After our process of rebooting the system to ensure that the data was getting into the cache, we was very surprised to see such a vast improvement over the previous. Apart from a couple of dips in speed, the sequential read sped was around five times that of before, with an average speed of 388.MB/s. We also noted that the burst speed rose by around 100MB/s to 461.9MB/s.
