Price
At the time of writing, stock was hard to find in the UK, although we believe the price compared to the performance should be around £30-40, most retailers are listing the product via import with prices north of £50. We advise that you check with your local retailer for accurate pricing information. In the US, things are much easier, with Amazon having the cooler for just $46.99 and many retailers having stock and deals available.
Overview
The Cryorig H5 Universal is an interesting cooler. While it may not be the coolest or the quietest in terms of performance, it still does a very commendable job of both, even when being used on a heavily overclocked CPU. I’m there are people who want more performance, but to get that, you’ll have to pay up for it. Here we have a very reasonable priced cooler that gives you enough cooling performance to overclock, with low noise, and most importantly of all, high compatibility.
The Universal was designed to be very flexible, and that means it comes with support for every major socket type. It’s also not too tall, so should be compatible with a very wide selection of chassis designs, which is always a nice bonus. On top of all that, it’s also designed to prevent conflict with memory slots, ensuring that you can still use it, even if you have huge RAM heatsinks. For those who don’t want to have to worry about compatibility, this is an easy choice, and even obviously even better for those who are having compatibility issues with their existing cooler; usually after upgrading some other component in the system that creates a conflict.
The build quality is what we’ve come to expect from Cryorig, showing their usual attention to detail when it comes to aesthetics and durability. The whole thing feels very well made, more so than we would have expected in this price range. The fan is very nice too, offering a great looking and performing design. Finally, we have the durable and intuitive mounting kit, all aided by the inclusion of a handy screwdriver that’s perfect for the job.
Overall, Cryorig has a great product here, and while it doesn’t offer the greatest cooling performance we’ve seen, it’s very competitive given it’s overall build quality, compatibility and, of course, price.
