Crytek’s CEO Cevat Yerli confirmed during an interview that Crysis 3 will be a DX 11 ONLY game.
The PC specifications were revealed on eTeknix a while back and looking at the cards, it is not surprising that Crysis 3 is DX 11 only, especially given the minimum system requirements.
Crysis 3 will create dynamic environments with more than the usual scenic flora that players got used to in previous Crysis titles. The game will have lot of choices for gamers to strategically use the environment to their advantage.
Cervet Yerli said:
“Crysis 3’s environments cater to every player’s style, making it a more natural playing field where players have many flexible options and aren’t constrained to one set path or area. Players can hide in the grass, swim underwater, or within the shadows of objects–there are many options to utilize within the game. There are natural player choices, but the game doesn’t force any one single path or area.”
Those with DX10 based GPUs have no choice other than to either buy a DX11 graphics card or grab a console to play this game. Crysis 3 is scheduled for release on February the 19th, 2013 in North America for Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and PC.
