Crytek Add Oculus Touch and More to The Climb

If you’ve invested in VR hardware, then it’s likely you’ve been enjoying Crytek’s VR experience The Climb. Now Crytek has finished the work on the latest update for the game, and have released it as a free expansion for all VR rock climbing enthusiasts.

The Climb now has support for Oculus Touch, which is a pretty huge deal given the subject matter. If that’s not enough, you’ll also find a brand new environment to explore! The game was already pretty darn exciting to play, so long as you’re not scared of heights. However, you’ll now be able to reach out with actual hand movements, swing from ledge to ledge and more, which sounds a lot more immersive.

The new update adds the “North” settings, which is a fantastic looking new environment which was inspired by the Arctic circle and surround areas such as Iceland; you can check that out in the trailer below.

From now until December 31st, The Climb will be included in the Oculus Touch Launch Bundle, which features five Oculus Rift games at great discounts. The whole bundle costs $89.99 and gives you the chance to get more hands on with what Oculus Touch can offer.

“The update allows you to play all of The Climb’s game modes with Oculus Touch. The Climb will also be updated with a range of separate leaderboards for this new way to play with these intuitive new controllers. In addition to full support for Touch, we’re also adding a brand new environment called North which can be seen in our new video. Inspired by the Arctic Circle and areas near it like Iceland, this new location is around the size of our Canyon location and includes two new bouldering challenges plus three difficulty settings. Get ready to scale new heights in an icy wilderness where you’ll need to keep your cool as you climb through ice caves and plot your route up dramatic cliffs.
