We’ve not seen much from Crytek recently, but it looks like they’re finally ready to break some silence. Their latest game is Hunt: Showdown, and it sounds like it’s shaping up to be a big hit for the developer.
A few members of the Crytek team have just released their first developer diary for the game. In the video, we see creative director Magnus Larbrant and level design director Chris Auty. The game is shaping up quite nicely, and given we haven’t seen much since its reveal at E3 2014; it’s great to have an update.
Originally pegged as a spiritual successor to Darksiders, this game has had a tough start in life. Crytek USA shut down and development changed hands a few times. Now it’s back in its latest form, where it combines co-op, competitive play, and 19th-century horror and monsters. Some have drawn similarities to play style as PUBG, due to its drop in and team up nature, but we shall see. Either way, it looks freaking awesome.
“We present the first developer diary for Hunt: Showdown, our upcoming PvP monster-hunting game. In the video, various members of the Crytek team, including creative director Magnus Larbrant and level design director Chris Auty, discuss the title’s origins, from its debut at E3 2014 to the many evolutions that brought it back to huge acclaim at E3 this summer.
Hunt: Showdown pits you and a co-op partner against monstrous creatures, treacherous environments and other teams of rival players in pursuit of dangerous bounties through the dark swamps of Louisiana during the Old West. Use stealth, cunning, bold tactics and quick-trigger instincts to evade or eliminate the competition, track down and vanquish your prey, and escape in one piece with your trophy.” – Crytek
