About four months ago, Crytek released a very impressive virtual reality demo titled “Back to Dinosaur Island,” and now, the company has unveiled its second part, which is actually even more awesome. Back to Dinosaur Island Part 2 was designed exclusively for the Oculus Rift DK2, and so it needs an Oculus Rift DK2 HMD (SDK 0.8) in order to run. Interestingly, Crytek’s representatives have stated that you’ll actually need a Xbox 360 or a Xbox One controller in order to try out this VR demo, as keyboard and mouse input is not supported. The good news is that you can download the demo right now from Steam.
The demo takes you back to prehistoric times and places you face to face with a deadly cliff. As you climb up the cliff, you’ll notice debris falling from the sky, while nearby flying dinosaurs react to your presence. Since we are talking about a VR demo here, it’s worth noting that you’ll need a relatively powerful rig in order to be able to enjoy it properly. You’ll find the minimum requirements below.
