CSGO E-Sports Pros Banned From Wearing Crocs At Competitions

Counter Strike’s E-Sports league has announced some changes to its rules for official tournaments and one of those rules involving footwear has caught some attention.
Crocs Banned At ESL Events
As reported by Kotaku, the ESL has updated their rule book to clarify their stance on open shoes not being allowed in the tournament with a specific mention of banning Crocs in line with the ban on open shoes. The changelog states: “Clarified in 4.3 Clothing that Crocs are considered open shoes and therefore not allowed.” which has stood out amongst fans and players online. Crocs are a vile creation and I often wish to see them dropped into a fire pit and clearly despite many loving them, the ESL shares my sentiments. Fans of Crocs will have to pay a minimum $250 fine if contenders are caught wearing them at the event and they will be provided with suitable alternative clothing which will also be deducted from the price money if the players win. This is a steep price to pay just for choosing to wear some awful footwear.
Crocs, Yay or Nay?
I’m not familiar with the ESL but I know it’s a highly organised event with strict standards so these rules whilst they seem a bit petty, are there for a reason. I’m sure there are plenty of Croc fans who read our articles so let’s start a little war in the comments. Crocs, Yay or Nay?
