CS:GO Players Have Pointlessly Spent Days Farming Hours For CS2 Keys

The Beta for CS2 is available though with factors to decide who exactly gets access to the beta to ensure only the right people get a chance to play it one of these was playtime.
Valve Confirms Idling in CS:GO Won’t Get You Access
To get access to the CS2 beta one of the requirements was your recent playtime on official Valve servers which of course means they are looking for people who actively play CS:GO to test CS2 which makes sense. Unfortunately, it seems that some players have been idling in the game to increase their playtime and get a beta key however, Valve has caught on to this. In a tweet on the official CounterStrike Twitter they announced that “Idling on official matchmaking servers in CS:GO does not increase your chance of making it into the CS2 Limited Test. The playtime that counts was your playtime prior to the start of the Limited Test.”
No Beta For You
If you didn’t play CS:GO actively beforehand well it seems like you aren’t going to get access to the Beta and are just going to have to stick to watching everyone who does have the Beta. Valve is doing this for a good reason though, having anyone play the Beta doesn’t make sense good beta testers are people who have played CS:GO a lot and know the ins and outs as they are most likely to give the best insights into the game.
