Counter-Strike has received a lot of attention since the announcement of the source 2 update for the game and it has been revealed that CSGO players have also spent an enormous amount of money on cases in March.
According to information from csgocasetracker.com players broke the record for the number of cases opened in a month with around 39.5 million cases opened and when taking into account the amount of money it costs for a case it has been estimated that the amount spent totals around $100 million. Each case key costs $2.50 which when chucked into a calculator adds up to around $98.75 million and even then that doesn’t take into account the money spent on cases themselves which can range from $0.70 to over $60.
With the announcement of Counter Strike 2, players were told that their skins acquired in the original game can be transferred over and combined with the hype and new player count records leads to people spend more on cases. I don’t play CSGO competitively so I don’t see the appeal in gambling real money for skins but whatever toots your horn.
