Vigilance HD Outdoor Mini Bullet Camera (DCS-4701E)

The DCS-4701E is one of two bullet cams in the Vigilance series. It is an outdoor HD camera suited for day and nighttime recording. Its compact form makes it less noticeable, and it features both integrated IR LEDs and 3D noise reduction.

The camera uses a high-sensitivity 1/3” megapixel progressive scan CMOS sensor with digital WDR image enhancement to deliver balanced video in varying lighting conditions. The compact, rugged design makes this camera ideal for deployment in a wide variety of surveillance applications without the need for additional accessories.

HD Only, but with Enhanced LowLight Feature

DCS-4701E incorporates a highly sensitive CMOS sensor which provides outstanding performance in low light conditions. With it, you get more vibrant colour details and thereby clearer images in those situations. The 3D noise reduction feature also improves the image quality and compression savings in low light by dramatically reducing noise.

Those are great features, but the camera only has a 1-Megapixel HD resolution (1280 x 720). With a recording of 30 frames per second, an HD resolution will be plenty in a lot of situations. Whether it’s enough for your setup is something you’ll have to decide for yourself.

Outdoor Ready

D-Link’s DCS-4701E is ready for outdoor usage, which means that you’re more or less free to place it where ever you’d like. It has an operating temperature range from -30° to 50° C and the housing is IP66 compliant. The all-metal adjustment options will also continue to ensure a stable mount in all conditions. It is a small but sturdy and stable camera.

Continuous Monitoring

Continuous monitoring around the clock is no issue with the DCS-4701E. With its digital wide dynamic range (WDR) video enhancement, it gives you improved image quality in environments with uneven or difficult lighting. It will allow you to easily identify subjects that are backlit or in brightly lit areas. In low-light situations, the IR cut filter automatically slides out of the way to use all available light.

The DCS-4701E also has built-in IR LED illuminators with a 28-metre range. They allow the camera to keep watch even in complete darkness. All these features work together to give you a reliable surveillance camera capable of monitoring an area 24 hours a day.

Flexible Connectivity

The DCS-4701E is as flexible as the rest of the Vigilance series. It has a built-in 802.3af compliant PoE module that simplifies installation by providing power and networking connectivity with a single cable. It reduces the need to drill holes or lay additional cabling and thereby simplifies the installation.

There’s the optional choice to power it individually and not via PoE, if you want that for some reason. It isn’t the intended usage scenario, but it is possible with the camera design.

The various adjustment options also make sure that you can place it where you want and get the best angle and coverage.
