When compared to the camera we looked at on the previous page; the DCS-4703E is close to the same. However, it does come with a better resolution, but at the cost of a slightly lower IR night vision distance. It is a Full-HD outdoor mini bullet camera with PoE capabilities. It features a 3 Megapixel sensor, integrated IR LEDs, and 3D noise reduction.
The Full HD 3 Megapixel video (2048 x 1536) which the DCS-4703E has, offers crisp and clear recordings. The general resolution is aided by the Wide Dynamic Range enhancements which help identify subjects in any lighting. Whether it’s low light or a bright background, you should be able to make out the target. D-Link also added the 3D Filter which reduces the noise from low-light environments. The combination of all those techniques should help deliver a great result.
D-Link’s 4703E is outdoor ready and weatherproof with its IP66 rating. With it, the camera is equipped to handle dust, rain, sleet, and snow. There’s also a glare-reducing shield added to the camera for those sunny days. With such a setup, you’re ready to record anywhere.
We’ve established that we can record clear images anywhere with the DCS4703E, but we can also do it at any time of the day. The camera is equipped with 16 IR LEDs which offer 20 metres of night vision.
The camera also has a configurable motion sensor and privacy mask settings, allowing you to stay on top of things at any time.
The camera is just as easy and flexible with the installation and adjustments as the rest of the series. The bullet camera supports three axis adjustment for a proper installation. Angle and rotate the camera to get a proper recording without digital manipulation of the video.
The Power over Ethernet (PoE) functionality is another feature which makes the installation easy. You only need to run a single cable from your switch to connect the DCS-4703E. There is an optional choice of powering it directly. While it isn’t the intended feature, it’s nice to see it added. It could save someone at some point for one reason or another. Perhaps your switch can’t supply enough power for all your cameras.
The official description, full details, specifications, and downloads are available on D-Link’s product page for the camera.
The DCS-4703E comes in the same type of box as the previous cameras. The sticker on the front shows the included camera and lists all its features. Inside is the camera, a quick start guide, mounting and adjustment tools, and a product disk.
