The last camera we’re taking a look at today is perhaps the most interesting of them all. The D-Link Vigilance DCS-4802E is a 2 Megapixel (1920 x 1080) Full HD outdoor dome camera for day and night time recordings. The dome IP camera features a compact form factor, integrated IR LEDs and 3D noise reduction.
The camera uses a high-sensitivity 1/3” megapixel progressive scan CMOS sensor with digital WDR image enhancement to deliver balanced video in varying lighting conditions. The compact, rugged design makes this camera ideal for deployment in a wide variety of surveillance applications. The unique design with 3-axis adjustment allows for precise positioning of the lens, supporting 360° Pan, 360° Rotation, and 75° Tilt.
To maximise bandwidth efficiency and improve image quality, the DCS-4802E provides real-time video compression. It has built-in H.264 and MJPEG codecs for this, and it supports three separate profiles for simultaneous video streaming and recording.
This versatility enables a wide variety of security applications, such as monitoring public areas to detect incidents and to coordinate responses, enforcing access control to restricted areas, deterring criminal activity, or monitoring inventory.
The DCS-4802E’s digital wide dynamic range (WDR) video enhancement gives you improved image quality in environments with uneven or difficult lighting. With it, you can identify subjects that are backlit or in brightly lit areas.
In low-light situations, the IR cut filter automatically slides out of the way to use all available light. The DCS-4802E also has built-in IR LED illuminators with an 18-metre range. It allows the camera to keep watch even in complete darkness.
These features work together to give you a reliable surveillance camera capable of monitoring an area 24 hours a day.
The DCS-4802E has a built-in 802.3af compliant PoE module that simplifies installation by providing power and networking connectivity with a single cable. It makes things easier and reduces the need to drill holes or lay additional cabling. The DCS-4802E can be mounted virtually anywhere with the Outdoor Dome Camera Wall Mount (DCS-37-1) or Outdoor Dome Camera Ceiling Mount (DCS-37-2) – sold separately.
The DCS-4802E is also IP66 rated. With it, the camera is equipped to handle dust, rain, sleet, and snow. D-Link included an additional accessory with this camera. It is a cover intended to be used over the Ethernet cable, thus protecting the connection. As it is an outdoor camera, it is a great addition which will ensure continuous use without malfunctions.
Since this is a dome camera and you won’t have access to the rear once it is mounted, the reset button is on the cable itself. It is the same as we saw on the previous dome cameras.
The official description, full details, specifications, and downloads are available on D-Link’s product page for the camera.
The package is the same simple box as with the previous five cameras and no big surprise at this point.
Inside is the camera as well as a product disk, an alignment sticker for easy installation, and a quick start manual. There are also the necessary tools to mount the camera.
