Conclusion

This was just a brief view of the D-Link’s Vigilance series. The entire series of security cameras are PoE powered for an easy installation with the least amount of effort. You only need to run a single cable to your PoE switch to get a camera up and running.

Whether you want to monitor the inside or outsides of your premises, the Vigilance series has an option for it. The outdoor models are IP66 rated for resistance against dust, rain, and snow. They’re also able to work in extreme temperatures, making sure that you have video coverage when you need it. There are bullet and dome cameras; there is a fisheye model, can cameras with 180 and 360-degree vision. Truly a camera for every need.

The entire series supports digital pan, tilt, and zoom and have night vision thanks to built-in IR LEDs. To maximise efficiency and improve image quality, the series supports real-time video compression using the H.264 and MJPEG codecs.

To top it all off, D-Link backs the entire series with a 5-year warranty. The warranty can be extended to a 10-year plan with next business day hardware replacement.

Overall, a series that covers a wide variety of surveillance applications and is well-suited for small, medium and large enterprise installations.

We’ll have a look at how the cameras actually perform in upcoming articles, featuring NAS devices from our partner’s brands. We’ll naturally also have a separate article with D-Link’s own solution, the D-ViewCam.

Thank You, D-Link, for these hardware samples.
