Darksiders is a very unusual franchise. Similar to Devil May Cry, it has never received the mainstream recognition it probably deserved, yet generally speaking, has always been excellent.
With the release of the recent HD remasters, the franchise has begun to grow in popularity. As such, it was no surprise when Darksiders 3 was announced. In previous titles, we have taken on the roles of War and Death. In this new game, however, we are placed in the role of Fury. We have known this for some time as the developer did for the early part of 2017 release a fair amount of details. For the last few months, however, a lot of the news has dried up.
Well, it seems that the wait might have been worth it as a new trailer has been released.
In the new trailer, courtesy of IGN via DSOGaming, we get to see our new protagonist Fury taking on a Lava Brute.
Having watched the trailer, there are a lot of positives to take away from it. Firstly, it looks like they in most ways they haven’t strayed too far from the winning formula. Secondly, the game looks very impressive with both nice graphics and fluid combat and thirdly, and perhaps most importantly, it looks really fun.
While I suspect that the Lava Brute is more of a sub-boss than outright ‘baddie’ the work is clearly evident. While I must confess to not personally being a massive fan of this series, the trailer was enough to get my wifes attention with the very subtle question ‘when is that released?’.
In answer to you, and her, switching to a more open-world environment, Darksiders 3 is scheduled for release in 2018. Unfortunately, at present, a more specific date is not known.
