Developer Phoenix Labs revealed it’s latest RPG at the Video Game Awards, and it looks fantastic! Dauntless is set to be a PC exclusive release, and offer plenty of co-op RPG action for you and your friends to enjoy. The game takes inspiration from series such as Dark Souls and Monster Hunter, and will be released in a free-to-play format.
With support for up to four players simultaneously, you’ll be able to craft new weapons, travel between the game world’s floating islands and hunt down its giant creatures together.
So far, Phoenix Labs has released a few screenshots of the game, which you can see below, as well as a cinematic trailer to get you hyped for the release.
The game doesn’t have a solid release date just yet, but expect to see it launch in 2017 and no doubt we’ll have plenty more information about it before then.
“Some will tell you that it’s courage. Picking yourself up after getting mauled and beaten. Running headlong into the deadly unknown time after time. Going beyond the frontier without looking back.
Others say it’s grit. Never settling for good enough. Digging for anything that could give you the edge. Bringing your blade down hard – everytime – even when your body is aching to give up.
And some will tell you it’s hope. The thankful smiles and knowing nods of the people you protect. Comparing scars and telling tales of the hunt in the tavern. Sailing into Ramsgate port and knowing that you saved this day.
The behemoths are at the gates and you are all that stands between the last of humanity and the end of all things. What does it take to become a slayer? It takes everything you’ve got.
From all of us at Phoenix Labs, welcome to the world of Dauntless.”
Check out the trailer below, where you’ll see a rather slick looking art style.
“Discover a shattered world, forge powerful weapons, and hunt the ferocious behemoths threatening our survival.”
