While expansions and DLC are a common thing in games these days, it’s usually limited to a handful. While hand sizes and their definitions do vary, I think it would be fair to say that most games which receive expansions generally receive somewhere between 3-5. Everquest, however, is a entirely different creature.
Daybreak games, the developer of Everquest, has just released ‘Ring of Scale’. This represents the twenty-fourth expansion for the fantasy MMO title.
On the official website, the game is described as enabling players to: “Return to Kunark and aid the Combine as they face off against the Sarnak Empire and the Ring of Scale. What will become of the Sarnak Empire? Will dragons reign supreme over Norrath? Only the most powerful of heroes will be able to help the Combine to breach the heart of Veeshan’s Peak. “
Since 2013 the game has operated on a free-to-play basis, however, for a one-off fee, you can gain access to this and all of the prior twenty-three expansions.
Despite being nearly 20 years old now, Everquest still remains highly popular. The new Ring of Scale expansion had added new zones, dungeons and a plethora of new in-game items.
Available for purchase now, there are options for your expansion. The standard edition at $34.99 will gain you access to the expansion and all previous expansions. $89.99 will get you access to some additional goods and perks while the top $139.99 will get you a mass of in-game enhancements.
In addition to this, any members of Daybreak All Access will get 10% discount on any purchase.
While a new Everquest game was in the works a couple years ago, Daybreak decided to pull the plug on it. It seems that with a brand new expansion, the original Everquest still has a lot of life in it.
