Rockstar may be doing well with Grand Theft Auto V, but not everyone involved in the game is happy with the result, especially rapper Daz Dillinger or Dogg Pound. The rapper has issued Rockstar with a cease and desist letter, accusing the developer of using his music in their multimillion selling blockbuster without paying him for it, whoops.
It is said that Dillinger’s tracks “C-Walk” and “nothin’ But the Cavi Hit” are included in Grand Theft Auto V, even though Daz had turned their “offensively low offer” of just $4,271.00 for both songs down when the game was in development.
So long story short is Rockstar wanted his songs, made him an offer which he refused and Rockstar ended up using the songs anyway. So now what?
Daz Dillinger has issued both Rockstar and their publisher Take-Two with an ultimatum, either make him a better offer, or recall and destroy all unsold copies of the game.
Dillinger said the move as about “respecting an artist’s work. Rockstar didn’t do that here and I can’t let them get away with it.” in an interview with DMZ.
They have just 14 days to respond and personally I think it is pretty obvious that Rockstar will offer him a payout, certainly of more than $4,271.
