Recently we have seen several situations surrounding Nintendo sending their lawyers on the warpath and Dbrand has bravely decided to throw itself to the lions with its new Clone of the Kingdom Switch skin.
Nintendo recently released a special edition Tears of the Kingdom themed Nintendo Switch which came paired up with a $359.99 price tag but DBrand, who creates custom skins for various consoles and devices, has decided to make a cheaper alternative. The Clone of the Kingdom set has been created entirely out of spite of this price tag and is a complete knock-off of the Tears of the Kingdom Switch and designed to save you money with the description header of “The Power of Plagiarism”. Interestingly the skin is also available for Steam Deck.
The skin isn’t an exact replica of course and it does feature one brilliant little detail in the text that is written on the dock that contains a hidden code. The hidden code was translated by Chris Scullion from videogameschronicle and contained the messages of “GO F**K YOURSELF LAWYERS” and “THIS FUNDS OUR LEGAL DEFENSE”. It’s a strong message to Nintendo and I fully respect it.
The Clone of The Kingdom skin is available for the Nintendo Switch and Steam Deck and comes with an additional black/gold skin alongside the green/gold skin. The skin is available for a limited time from dbrand.com.
