DDR4 Frequency World Record Set at 5.5GHz Using G.SKILL Memory

Top Taiwanese overlocker Toppc broke his own world record, setting the highest DDR4 frequency to date at 5.5GHz. Just one week before Computex 2016 last year, Toppc set his previous 5GHz+ record with another G.SKILL memory module. He used an MSI Z170I GAMING PRO AC motherboard previously, but with his latest efforts, he used an MSI X299 GAMING PRO AC motherboard. The CPU used is an engineering sample of an Intel Kaby Lake i7 7740K processor. The CPU and memory were placed under LN2.

DDR4 Frequency Ranking

The second spot in the memory frequency ranking belongs to Sundaynight8+9 of Taiwan as well who set it at 5,490.8 MHz DDR4. Sundaynight8+9 also used an MSI X299 Gaming Pro motherboard with an Intel i7 7740K CPU. ASRock’s NickShih holds the third place spot with 5,463.6 MHz. NickShih also uses an Intel Core i7 7740K processor but on the latest ASRock X299 OC Formula motherboard.

“DDR4 5.5GHz has been our next target after we achieved DDR4 5GHz last year. We are extremely excited to finally make it happen together with Samsung components, MSI X299 motherboard, and Intel Core X-series processor,” says Tequila Huang, Corporate Vice President, G.SKILL International. G.SKILL is also enthusiastic about seeing the overclocking potential of the latest Intel hardware, suggesting that more records will most likely be set on the new platform.
