Not for the first time, I’ll confess, I’m a major Dead by Daylight fan. Admittedly my 240 hours is nowhere near as much some have played, but it should at least tell you that I am a major fanboy with this franchise.
From its humble beginnings, the survival horror has done remarkably well. It has even managed to attract some A-list horror stars.
With Michael Myers being added last Halloween the series had raised expectations for this year. The addition of Leatherface last month did, however, confuse people slightly. Was this the Halloween update we were expecting? Well, nope, apparently not, but don’t worry, the real one is even more awesome.
Freddy Krueger is coming to Dead by Daylight. Hopefully, by this point, you haven’t fallen asleep.
Aside from a garbage game on the NES and a decent cameo in Mortal Kombat 5, Freddy Krueger is a character that should get more attention in gaming. He is, after all, one of the cornerstones of horror characters.
While Jason Vorhees does have his own modern game in Friday the 13th, it’s not very good. Even despite the swimwear DLC.
Although the DLC has not yet been officially announced, the release of the teaser all but confirms the surprise addition. It again marks a very impressive coup for a small game studio who have now successfully secured the image rights to 3 major horror movie characters.
Thinking about the future of the game, it’s hard to guess who they’ll get next. Personally, I’d love to see ‘The Blob’ added which, with the right maps, could be amazing.
You can check out the teaser trailer below. Although not officially announced, I would expect the Freddy Krueger Dead by Daylight DLC to be released October 31st. I have no idea why… just a hunch.
