The critically acclaimed, interactive story Dear Esther was profitable after only six hours of launching last week.
The developer said today that within one week they’ve sold over 50,000 copies. “This is great, as it shows that there’s a real audience for this type of work, and responses have been amazing,” they said. “Not only have we received amazingly positive reviews, but the response from fans has been outstanding.”
Game Informer’s Tim Turi gave Dear Esther an 8 out of 10, saying: “If you’re interested in absorbing an intellectual story and gorgeous visuals without having to exert a drop of effort, take a chance on this curious experiment.”
Additionally, translation packs and patches are due out sometime next week
